THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
This seminar will provide the opportunity to assess Government’s plans for improving air quality levels.
It comes with Defra expected to publish an updated air quality plan following a High Court ruling that plans were ‘inadequate’, as well as the upcoming guidance due to be issued by NICE around the time of this conference.
Planned sessions look at the priorities for reducing pollution levels to meet environmental requirements and improve public health, with discussion on the implementation and funding of new clean air zones across the country, and what policy measures should be pursued to reduce CO2 and NO2 levels. Discussion is also expected on the Environmental Audit Committee’s report that recommended Government do more to mitigate the environmental impacts of expansion at Heathrow Airport, as well as the inquiry launched by four Parliamentary committees to examine cross-government plans to tackle urban pollution.
Following the Mayor of London’s announcement of a new daily ‘Toxicity Charge’ beginning later this year that will be applied to the most polluting vehicles, further discussion will focus on measures to reduce emissions across the transport sector and what more can be done to change driver and manufacturer behaviours. We also expect delegates to consider the upcoming publication of the BEIS emission reduction plan and possible measures to reduce the impact of the industrial sector on air and the environment in the UK.
