February 2019

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This conference will consider the priorities for growing the role of women across the infrastructure industry - including numbers joining the sector, career progression and female representation in leadership roles.

Developing the talent pool and tackling barriers

The agenda will bring out latest thinking on what is needed to develop a diverse talent pool across engineering, planning and construction, with a focus on overcoming the challenges for improving engagement in STEM subjects, increasing female representation on engineering and construction apprenticeships, the role of career advice, and strategies for overcoming potential barriers to entering the industry, such as perceptions of workplace cultures. We also expect discussion on intersectional issues affecting women from BAME communities, from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities.

Support, career progression and women in leadership roles

Attendees will examine cross sector challenges facing women in infrastructure, with discussion expected on the opportunities for major infrastructure projects to increase female representation in their workforce, through practical measures such as returnship programmes.

Sessions will look at the next steps for increasing retention of women in the sector, expanding opportunities for career progression and increasing the number of women in leadership roles, as well as the priorities for reducing the pay gap across the sector.

Further sessions will assess the opportunities for employers to support women at work, looking at latest thinking on addressing unconscious bias and encouraging policies to create more inclusive workplace cultures.
