Next steps for postgraduate research - funding, delivery and progression to early career research

December 2019

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This conference examines key issues for postgraduate research (PGR) in the UK.

Delegates will assess the effectiveness of current postgraduate funding and delivery methods - including the impact on access and inclusion - and the next steps for supporting career progression for PGR students.

The agenda looks at priorities for implementing the updated The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, which lays out key responsibilities for researchers, managers of researchers, institutions, and funders across three defining principles:

  • environment and culture;
  • employment; and
  • professional and career development.

Attendees will also discuss the balance of funding of PGR, looking at opportunities around increased government research spending, the impact of the new loans, and priorities for expanding employer-sponsored programmes.

Further sessions assess models for providing doctoral study, including the effectiveness of Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs).
