This conference considered the future for arts and culture in England, with a focus on funding, participation and technology.
Delegates discussed priorities for Arts Council England’s next ten year strategy for 2020-30, and the future for public cultural investment, considering what further action might be taken to increase sector resilience - including diversifying revenue streams and business models, attracting private investment, and exploiting IP and assets.
Attendees assessed priorities for expanding the socio-economic contribution of culture and looked at how challenges for widening participation might be addressed - focusing on regional imbalances, collaboration with other sectors, the development of local partnerships and working with education, and issues around relevance and engagement.
Further sessions explored how the sector is adapting to, and utilising, new technologies, and discussed next steps for driving innovation - looking at the attracting and diversifying audiences, opportunities for creative collaboration and digital partnerships, and challenges around monetisation.
