This conference examined the future of UK gambling at a pivotal time for the industry - focusing on the future of the market, innovation and latest thinking on responsibility in the sector.
Following the Government’s announcement of a reduction in the maximum stake on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals, and the Gambling Commission’s recent announcement of new rules to protect consumers following its consultation, discussion focused on the potential commercial impact, and considered what further action might be needed to support sector growth and promote a socially responsible industry.
In light of the recent US Supreme Court Ruling on sports betting which opened the way for its legalisation across states in America, and amid heightened merger and acquisition activity, delegates also discussed new market opportunities and the way ahead for the competitive landscape.
Further sessions brought out latest thinking on innovation and modernisation as the UK sector seeks to retain and exploit its leading international position in both technology and regulation, and also considered how the sector might better co-ordinate in its engagement with policymakers and more widely.
