This conference focused on next steps for the schools estate in England including issues of funding and resource allocation, refurbishment and repair, building new schools and innovation in design.
Attendees examined ongoing repair of pre-existing school buildings including concerns surrounding access to funding for schools in need of refurbishment but outside the Priority School Building Programme (PSBP).
The conference was an opportunity to review the progress of the PSBP, and the challenges that remain in ensuring the programme is completed on time following concerns over financial forecasts.
Delegates discussed LocatED’s progress and next steps in its land acquisition programme to support the Government’s projected aims for building new free schools and creating school places.
The seminar also looked at issues of design as school leaders seek to maximise the potential of existing school estates and secure high-quality design of new school buildings.
