This conference will examine the future for high speed rail in the UK following the Prime Minister’s announcement of the green light to building High Speed 2.
Bringing together stakeholders and policymakers, areas for discussion at this conference include:
- Implications of the Oakervee Review of HS2;
- Priorities for the newly appointed minister for Northern Powerhouse Rail and HS2;
- The challenges involved in constructing HS2, following the National Audit Office report on HS2, which raised concerns about the management of risks to value for money;
- Next steps for Phase 2b (Crewe to Manchester and West Midlands to Leeds), following the Prime Minister’s announcement that there will be an assessment by the National Infrastructure Commission into how to integrate HS2 with other rail investments across the North - such as Northern Powerhouse Rail.
