Innovation in legal services - technology, skills and new business models

March 2013

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

Scheduled a year on from the first licensed alternative business structures under the Solicitors Regulation Authority, this seminar provided a timely opportunity to assess how effectively a liberalised legal services market is promoting innovation, growth and enterprise in the provision of legal services. Sessions brought together firms and practitioners from a variety of disciplines, alongside investors, consultants, training providers, consumer bodies, regulators and policymakers, and included a keynote address from Professor Richard Susskind.
Delegates assessed the impact of technology on the growth of online and automated legal services, and consumer expectations in this area, as well as latest thinking on the future role of "legal technologists". Sessions focused on how new and emerging business models are influencing the market - with particular reference to the use of outsourcing, branding and alternative billing in a restrictive economic climate - as well as how legal education and training providers can respond to ensure a competitive and dynamic profession for the future market place.
