Following Ofsted’s report Getting ready for work, which called on Government to do more to promote enterprise education in schools, this conference examined the next steps that can be taken to ensure that young people can gain the skills or experience they need to enter the world of work.
It also came ahead of the Government’s new comprehensive careers strategy, and delegates considered how to increase the number and quality of work experience placements available for young people, further opportunities for improving employability skills and how these skills can best be demonstrated to employers outside of qualifications.
Further sessions also considered the further action for improving employment support for young people, with a particular focus on those groups who are furthest away from the labour market.
