July 2017

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

Timed to follow the April 2017 launch of Open Water, the non-household water market, and following publication of Ofwat’s Price Review 2019 (PR19) methodology consultation, this seminar examined the next steps for water market reform.

Key areas for discussion on the day included:

  • PR19: the potential impact of the new methodology on customer experience, resilience, affordability and innovation;
  • The environment: historical environmental successes, current challenges and future priorities;
  • Market responses: opening up the value chain, operator innovation, partnerships and regulatory support;
  • Future requirements: protecting the consumer, agricultural and financial sector perspectives, and the outlook for improving services;
  • Upstream opportunities: PR19 limitations, increasing upstream competition and future challenges; and
  • Resilience: whole water-cycle approaches, new solutions, financial benefits and the need for a ‘national resiliency champion’.
