This seminar assessed the next steps for regional development and local devolution deals in England.
Delegates considered the impact of Brexit on long term funding and investment for regional projects, as well as commitments to upgrade infrastructure, close local skills gaps and improve collaboration between universities and local businesses, as outlined in the Industrial Strategy.
As metro mayors began their responsibilities, the conference was also an opportunity to discuss the role of mayors in regional development and devolution, particularly in the context of the Northern Powerhouse, Midlands Engine and other deals across the country.
