The seminar considered the next steps for developing and expanding the UK’s railway infrastructure.
Delegates discussed major projects being planned and delivered and the opportunities for enhancing the network, focussing on Network Rail’s new round of funding for Control Period 6, the High-Speed rail infrastructure project, and how innovations in technology might maintain and modernise the network.
Further sessions examined key concerns for the domestic construction sector and its supply chain, challenges presented by skilled worker shortages, priorities for the rail freight industry, and the future for regulating the rail sector.
Delegates also assessed what more rail franchises and Network Rail might do to improve customer satisfaction and address issues raised by users of the rail network.
