Next steps for the onshore oil and gas industry in the UK were discussed at this conference.
It followed the completion of the Shale Wealth Fund consultation, and took place in light of exploratory drilling moving forwards in North Yorkshire and Lancashire. Delegates assessed the priorities for delivering new onshore projects and for securing the economic climate and investment to drive growth in the sector, as well as the implications locally and nationally for future policy decisions.
Discussion also took place on the issues surrounding project development, lessons that can be learnt from developments outside the UK, and the opportunities for partnership.
Further sessions examined the ecological impacts of onshore development, including remaining issues over environmental contamination, emissions and noise in local communities - as well as the future of regulatory frameworks to address these concerns.
