Developing low-carbon fuels and reducing emissions: UK policy priorities, industry engagement and supporting innovation

February 2019

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This conference will be an opportunity for key stakeholders and policymakers to examine the next steps for reducing transport emissions and priorities for the low-carbon fuels sector.

Delegates will discuss what more can be done to support the use of low-carbon fuels and electric vehicles across passenger vehicles, freight, aviation and shipping.

It takes place in the context of the Government’s Road to Zero Strategy, as well as the recently published Maritime 2050 and Clean Air Strategy, which set out plans to reduce emissions and air pollution, funding incentives to encourage the production of advanced low-carbon fuels, and commitments to produce new legislation to prohibit the sale of the most polluting fuels.

With the UK Bioeconomy Strategy setting out plans to move to renewable biological resources to replace fossil resources, delegates will also consider what more is needed to support the growth of the low-carbon fuels sector.

We expect discussion on attracting investment and demonstrating economic viability for alternative fuel production, and priorities for infrastructure development for fuel production and roadside refuelling with both BP and Shell investing in bringing chargepoints to petrol forecourts.

With a range of alternative fuels represented on the agenda - including biofuels, biogas, hydrogen and electric batteries - delegates will assess how best to support development and innovation in a diverse and competitive sector and the potential for competitions such as the Future Fuels for Flight and Freight and Hydrogen for Transport in engaging the aviation and heavy duty vehicle sectors.
