Next steps for the Internet of Things - infrastructure, commercial opportunities and service development

June 2018

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This conference discussed the latest thinking on priorities for supporting the growth and development of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the UK.

Delegates considered the potential impact of key measures from the Government’s Secure by Design report for manufacturers of smart devices, and possible next steps for policy in addressing data, privacy and cyber security concerns - including challenges arising from the requirements of GDPR with respect to data usage and profiling.

Attendees also looked at possible next steps for enabling IoT - particularly issues around standards, infrastructure and interoperability - and regulatory priorities in the context of the rise of M2M communication.

Further sessions on the day assessed the way forward for the development of consumer IoT - including for enhancing connectivity, engagement and data protection - and explored how IoT might be further integrated into public services, such as transport, environment and health, in order to drive innovation, investment and the improvement of services.
