This timely seminar will consider the future for attracting international students to UK universities.
It will be an opportunity to discuss the implications of Government’s immigration white paper on the future of the student visa system, and the potential impact on international student numbers both from within and outside the EEA.
Delegates will consider the practicalities of implementing Government proposals - including issues around the sponsorship of EEA students and the streamlining of the visa process by developing a new digital system.
We expect discussion on what the measures are likely to mean for the UK’s positioning as an attractive destination for international students - for example by incorporating the twelve months leave-to-remain after PhD completion into the original visa duration and allowing graduating students at all levels to remain in the UK for up to six months after graduation.
Delegates will assess measures that can be taken by universities to attract international students, including the tailoring of marketing strategies to specific regions, new pricing strategies, and marketing campaigns emphasising diversity and inclusivity.
Further sessions focus on the international student experience and, in particular, at how to promote integration between students on campus, improve support offered by universities and foster effective international co-operation in the future through the development of alumni networks.
