Policy priorities for housing in London

October 2016

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This seminar assessed the future for housing policy in the Capital.

Delegates considered the future of London’s housing market in the context of the EU referendum result - with latest thinking on how post-Brexit market conditions will impact on investment, buyer demand and property prices in the Capital, and the challenges and opportunities this may bring about for the future supply, affordability and quality of London’s housing stock. The conference was also timed to facilitate discussion on emerging housing priorities for the new Mayor, and the development of a new London Plan.

Sessions focused on opportunities for increasing supply and affordability across all tenures - particularly in light of the Mayor’s manifesto pledge for half of new homes to be affordable - latest thinking on improving standards across the private rented sector, as well as the future role of social housing in meeting London’s housing demand. Further sessions considered the impact of national policy, such as the recent Housing and Planning Act, and its long-term implications for starter homes, right to buy, high‐value sales, high‐income social tenants and planning.

The conference brought together key policy makers with a range of professionals, including developers, construction companies, architects, investors and banks, lawyers, local authorities, tenant groups and charities, as well as members of the national and trade press.
