In light of the UK vote to leave the European Union, delegates at this conference discussed current and future challenges for the health and social care workforce in England.
This conference included discussion on next steps for Health Education England, addressing issues for the primary care workforce, including recruitment and retention, priorities within secondary care, and the potential impact of the EU referendum result on NHS staff.
Further sessions looked at the Department of Health’s plans to increase medical training places by 25% by 2018 and improve self sufficiency of doctors, priorities for the social care and nursing workforce, developing the role of allied health professionals, physician associates and nursing support roles in care, and challenges for achieving workforce targets in urgent and emergency care.
