The future for general practice in England: workforce, partnerships and reforming the QOF

October 2018

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This seminar brought together key stakeholders to discuss the future for general practice in England - with discussion on workforce issues, GP partnerships and the impact of any changes to the QOF.

It was an opportunity to consider what further measures might be taken to improve recruitment and retention rates - in light of Government targets to increase GP numbers by 5,000 by 2020 and the announcement by NHS England of a new £10 million fund to help retain GPs.

Delegates assessed the progress of schemes such as the International GP Recruitment Programme and following NHS England’s publication of the Review of the QOF, delegates also discussed priorities post Review.

Attendees also considered what more might be done to tackle the rising cost of GP indemnity, following the former Secretary of State’s announcement of plans to develop a state-backed indemnity scheme for GPs from April 2019.

Further sessions examined key themes emerging from the independent review into the GP partnership model and possible next steps for completing the roll out of the Electronic Prescription Service and the full implementation of the e-Referral Service.
