Digital transformation in the UK cultural sector: opportunities, business models and developing new expertise

March 2018

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This timely seminar examined the next steps for supporting the use of digital technology in the UK cultural sector and the opportunities it brings for developing audiences, partnerships and revenue streams.

It brought together stakeholders with key policymakers following the release of the Culture is Digital report from DCMS, which seeks to support cultural and technology organisations in working together around creativity, engagement and capability.

Delegates discussed the development of digitally-driven business models - particularly around monetisation, marketing and distribution - and considered how to build closer partnerships with the tech and other sectors in order to find new ways of accessing funding and tap into the creative and commercial potential of technology, as well as opportunities for developing international content and expertise.

Further sessions assessed the latest thinking on driving the digital capability of organisations of differing scales and at varying stages of development, and considered what further policy and industry support is needed - with a particular focus on cultivating organisational skills and wider digital expertise, the use of data to engage and widen audiences, and options for the development of shared digital infrastructure.
