This timely seminar examined the next steps for developing the KEF.
The seminar examined the KEF development process, and discussed preparations for the KEF’s implementation which is due from autumn 2018.
Delegates considered potential challenges in the design of the framework, particularly in ensuring that the metrics to be used reflect the broad range of knowledge exchange and transfer activities carried out by higher education institutions.
Further sessions discussed how best to ensure that incentives to compete do not disrupt collaborative research programmes, the future role of Catapults, and further steps that might be taken to maximise universities’ intellectual property generation.
