The seminar considered the priorities for implementing the Government’s careers strategy, and its potential implications for key stakeholders - including learners, the education and training sector, employers and local communities.

Delegates assessed the challenges for schools as they look to meet the Gatsby Good Career Guidance Benchmarks, how schools and employers might work more effectively together to encourage the development of the skills required to support local economies, and the challenges for improving the availability of careers services for adults.

Further sessions on the day examined what steps need to be taken to meet the strategy’s key objectives - including promoting technical education as a career route, increasing the number of encounters between pupils and employers, and improving the training and support available to Careers Leaders in schools.
