Bringing together key policymakers and stakeholders, this conference provided a timely opportunity to assess the Government's priorities for national infrastructure planning and latest progress towards delivering Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
Delegates discussed what more can be done to balance critical infrastructure development as set out in the Government's National Infrastructure Plan with the concerns and needs of local communities, together with an assessment of the economic case and public and private funding requirements behind priority projects. Further discussion brought out the latest thinking on ensuring sustainable developments and the engineering and legislative priorities to delivering major projects on time.
The agenda also looked into the planning priorities for different sectors including energy generation, flood defences, transport, and communication network infrastructure developments.
