With each of the main parties setting out their priorities for mental health services, this conference brought policymakers and key stakeholders together to discuss next steps for improving care and outcomes.
Delegates considered government initiatives to provide better access to mental health by 2020, including the introduction of waiting time targets for people with mental health problems from April 2015, and next steps for ensuring mental and physical health are valued equally.
Further sessions focused on increasing access to services for those with severe mental illness, progress on providing local commissioners with intelligence, research and evidence-based best practice in light of the introduction of the Mental Health Dementia and Neurology Intelligence Networks, and the future for children's mental health services.
