Following the publication of the second progress report on the implementation and evolution of the Farrell Review, and as the Department for Communities and Local Government considers responses to its consultation on architects regulation and the Architects Registration Board, this seminar offered a timely opportunity to discuss the emerging challenges and opportunities for UK architecture and the built environment.
The conference brought together representatives from across the sector - including planning, landscape, architecture, conservation and engineering - to examine priority issues such as the importance of place, planning reform, sustainability, and quality design. They considered best practice for national and local government in effectively engaging with industry and communities to promote education, outreach and skills - and to widen access to the professional groups involved in the built environment and create a multi-disciplinary workforce, as well as examined how the new Government can support the sector.
