This timely seminar examined the future for UK spectrum as the Government prepared to release a further 500mhz of spectrum to private companies by 2020 and aimed to double spectrum-related revenue by 2025.
Delegates discussed opportunities for increasing spectrum capacity, including latest thinking on the recent whitespace plots, spectrum sharing between organisations and the re-allocation of bands from the public to private sector. They also considered options for regulation and management of spectrum, as sharing between organisations becomes more common and as traffic continues to increase rapidly. The public benefits of spectrum were also discussed as delegates examined the case for whether certain bands held by the Armed Forces and elsewhere should be made more widely available.
