This seminar provided a timely opportunity to assess progress and next steps for Government's plan for the mass roll-out of smart meter technology in every UK household by 2020. With the establishment of the Data Communications Company (DCC), launch of Smart Energy GB and ongoing Smart Metering Implementation Programme (SMIP), sessions included discussion on technical standards, data protection and privacy, and the challenges of integrating new infrastructure in line with proposed timelines.
