The future of patent law - innovation, enforcement and next steps for the unified patent court

October 2014

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This timely conference focused on the future of domestic and international patent reform. It was timed to consider next steps for the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) - one year on from its formal establishment - and was also scheduled as European policymakers approached a finalised Unified Patent Court and Unitary Patent.
Sessions brought together senior policymakers with intellectual property lawyers and consultants, businesses representatives from a variety of high-tech and innovative sectors, universities, commentators and economists. Discussion brought out latest thinking on what more the IPEC can do to develop an affordable and efficient framework of domestic patent protection and dispute resolution, and in what ways reform in this area can support Government's wider aims to foster innovation and growth among SMEs. Delegates also had the opportunity to discuss the impact of forthcoming European reforms - with stakeholder perspectives on the Unified Patent Court's legal framework, and how it might impact on UK interests.
