This seminar provided a timely opportunity to examine the progress and next steps in implementing government policy associated with the UK's strategic road network. It followed the Government outlining plans to spend £1.9 billion on improving the country's road network in 2014, in line with their intention to treble investment in this area by 2021; and in light of the Government Consultation on transforming the Highways Agency into an independent company.
Delegates at this seminar also considered how investment will be distributed nationally, planning issues involved in delivering new road schemes, as well as how best to integrate wider network expansion with transport infrastructure already in place or due to be built.
