This conference provided a timely opportunity to assess challenges facing the implementation of the Electricity Market Reform (EMR) Delivery Plan published in December - and with secondary legislation presented to Parliament.
With the Contracts for Difference (CfDs) regime coming into force, delegates at this seminar discussed how best to secure investment in low carbon energy, as the Government announced 8 major renewable projects. Further sessions included discussion on consumer energy prices - such as the impact of agreed strike prices, and the wider political discussion around ensuring consumers get the best deal - and on what more can be done to ensure the UK has the capacity to support growing energy demand, especially at peak time.
