In light of the reforms to science qualifications, delegates discussed the content of the new A-level science qualifications to be taught from September 2015 and the new GCSE in science, to be taught from September 2016.
Sessions also considered implementation issues around the new qualifications including the removal of modules, as well as concerns raised by learned societies about the lack of assessment of practical skills in the new qualifications.
Delegates at this seminar also discussed the topics to be covered at Key Stages 4 and 5, and how well the new qualifications will provide students with the knowledge and skills required for Higher Education and employment in science-related areas.
