This seminar provided an opportunity to examine key issues for the future of children's media - affecting content producers, broadcasters, online platforms, and children themselves.
Delegates examined the role and scope of PSB programming in the funding and development of new content for children and the next steps for increasing investment in original content - in the context of the BBC's charter renewal in 2016, and in light of Ofcom's finding that total Public Service Broadcasting spend on children's first-run originated programmes has dropped by 17% since 2006. They also discussed thinking on service and commercial opportunities for providing children with multi-platform content, as well as issues of tax relief and ensuring that children are exposed to age-appropriate advertising and are protected online.
