This seminar provided an opportunity to discuss a range of key issues in child development policy.
Delegates discussed implementation issues around the proposal to integrate health checks and the Early Years progress check for children aged 2 from 2015, as well as the impact of the announcement of new 'baseline assessment' for pupils in Reception on measuring and improving children's 'school readiness'.
Further sessions focused on the support available for parents and the outcomes of the two-year CANparent trials (Government-funded parenting classes), as well as the impact of the new Early Years Pupil Premium scheme. The conference brought together policymakers and regulator officials with key stakeholders involved in child development, including Early Years practitioners, health visitors, local authority representatives, health and wellbeing boards, child psychologists, Family Nurse Partnerships, professional associations, academics and primary school leaders.
