Attendees at this conference discussed challenges and opportunities for improving mental health services and outcomes, following the release of the Government's mental health policy paper, which set out 25 aspects of care where changes were expected to be seen in the following two years.
With the release of the Mental Health Crisis Concordat - following NHS England's Mandate refresh which included further commitments to delivering parity of esteem between mental and physical health - sessions focused on the impact of further integration of care on patient experience; prioritising early intervention and preventative care; and challenges for making sure that services are patient-centred.
Delegates also examined the impact of new commissioning bodies on mental health services; progress on dealing with stigma; and the key issues surrounding public mental health - such as reducing inequalities and increasing awareness.
