This seminar provided a timely opportunity to discuss the initial effect of the School Admissions Code, and the future of school funding following Government's announcement in the Spending Round 2013 of a national funding formula from 2015. It brought together policymakers with interested parties, including school and college leaders, representatives of local authorities, parent representatives, academics and others with an interest in the issues.
Delegates considered the funding arrangements for 2014/15, and local authorities' progress in simplifying local school funding ahead of the national funding formula. Government's review of efficiency in the schools system and the support for schools to achieve greater financial efficiency were also discussed.
Further sessions focused on the effect of the new School Admissions Code following the first round of admissions in September 2013, and its implications for schools as funding increasingly follows pupils.
