This seminar offered delegates an opportunity to consider the next steps for producing a framework for the delivery of audio-visual works across Europe, possible implications for UK policy in the context of the European Commission's Communication: Content in the Digital Single Market and implementation of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act.
Sessions at the event examined the challenges to updating the European Copyright Framework for the digital age - including options for joined-up approaches across states and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of enforcement - as well as the priorities for enabling cross-border access to audio-visual content for consumers. Delegates also examined the extent to which consumer rights are keeping pace with technological innovation and the options for ensuring that European market harmonisation runs in parallel with protection offered to users.
