Following the Secretary of State's announcement that improving dementia care is one of his key priorities, this seminar gave interested parties the opportunity to discuss the progress of the Challenge on Dementia, and the key issues for raising awareness, improving outcomes and developing research.
Sessions focused on the commissioning of dementia care following the authorisation of Clinical Commissioning Groups and new duties for local authorities, and the impact of the Care Bill on funding and personalisation of services. Delegates also considered the increasing role of the GP and the setting of standards of care, as well as the challenges of funding care costs following the proposed cap.
