This seminar brought together key policymakers from the National Assembly and Welsh Government with stakeholders - including Local Health Boards, NHS Wales, hospices, charities and patient groups - to consider the implementation issues arising from the National End of Life Care Delivery Plan, released in summer 2013.
Sessions assessed the identification of patient needs in advance, standards of end of life care delivery, and in particular how end of life plans and arrangements can be improved including patient and family feedback on care in informing further service development. The best way in which to integrate services between hospices and the NHS, maintaining spend on end of life care across Wales and how to address the challenge of fundraising in the current financial climate were also discussed.
