The seminar focused on the future of mental health policy including the roles of Public Health England, Health and Wellbeing Boards and Clinical Commissioning Groups, as well as the local community in promoting mental health and preventing mental illness. Sessions focused on what more can be done to include service users and carers in the design of their care; the next steps for the development of indicators of success and data collection, integration of services and education of the workforce.
The seminar took place following authorisation of Health and Wellbeing Boards and the release of the Mental health implementation framework which sets a programme to fully implement the Government's mental health strategy No Health without Mental Health, and delegates explored the potential offered and challenges presented by the structural changes in health and social care.
