This seminar provided an opportunity to assess the future for affordable rent and social housing in England. Sessions brought out latest thinking on the future role of social housing providers - including how they will meet growing pressures for social housing and make best use of existing stock.
Delegates also considered the implementation of the Localism Act and wider challenges for local government of other changes to the planning system, as well as the effects of the Infrastructure (Financial Assistance) Act on the affordable rent market, particularly in view of changing consumer habits. The seminar followed the publication of the Housing Strategy, the Affordable Homes Programme, including the Affordable Rent Model, and the Government's plan to boost British housebuilding, jobs and the economy.
