With responsibility for public health moving to local authorities, this seminar provided an opportunity to consider how Health and Wellbeing Boards will work together, and will integrate with clinical senates and networks, NHS Commissioning boards, clinical commissioning groups and other NHS bodies. It was timed to take place as the bodies concerned considered implementation issues for the Health and Social Care Act.
Delegates assessed the key challenges for ensuring the local accountability of the new Boards, and considered how Health and Wellbeing Boards can best determine the direction of health strategy at the local level and work alongside NHS partners on commissioning services in a difficult economic climate.
