This seminar brought together key stakeholders to discuss the future funding models and organisation of Higher Education in England. The event followed the publication of the Independent Review of Higher Education Funding and Student Finance by Lord Browne and was an opportunity to consider the implications of the Review. Discussions looked at how recommended changes to future fees policy and student funding may impact upon the sector; how wider and fairer access to university could continue to be supported whilst ensuring that the quality of the student experience is protected; and how excellence in teaching and research could be maintained in light of budgetary constraints. UK spending on Higher Education in comparison with other developed nations was also examined, in addition to the future organisation of HE - including two-year degrees and courses taught at Further Education colleges.
