This timely seminar looked at the future of educational provision for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a climate of severe budgetary constraint. It came as the Government prepared to launch a wide-ranging Green Paper on SEN and followed the publication of Ofsted's review of SEN and disabilities in schools. Delegates examined how Special Educational Needs provision is likely to be affected by proposed changes to the school system, including the establishment of Free Schools and the increase in the number of Academies. It also brought to light the thinking on optimal learning environments for pupils with SEN and looked at current policies of inclusion and the future role of special schools.
