Following the launch of AHPs into Action strategy, this seminar was an opportunity to assess the future role of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs).
Delegates considered key issues in the strategy including how AHPs can be further empowered to support service delivery and assist in achieving goals set out in the Five Year Forward View for Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs), and their potential to collaborate as part of multidisciplinary teams and reduce pressures on health services.
Further sessions focused on next steps for extending non-medical prescribing in light of the amendments of medicines legislation to give independent prescribing powers to therapeutic radiographers, physiotherapists, dietitians, as well as priorities for training the future workforce and developing leadership skills.
