Coming at a time of significant discussion about the system of degree classification in the UK and following the inclusion of concerns about grade inflation in last year's Higher Education Green Paper, this seminar focused on the future for awarding degrees in the UK.
Delegates - including policymakers and senior representatives from universities, employers and students' unions - discussed latest thinking on options for grading reform within UK higher education, along with the potential for the introduction of a more granular Grade Point Average measure to successfully address these concerns.
Further sessions focused on the role of external examiners in promoting consistent marking across the sector, along with the effectiveness of measures to provide prospective employers with further information in addition to the degree transcript - including the Higher Education Achievement Report.
