This conference was scheduled and structured to bring out discussion in the context of the publication of the Government’s new strategy for sport, and offered delegates an opportunity to consider the impact on and next steps for individuals and groups most affected by the issues, as well as public and private sector organisations, including the key implementation challenges.
Delegates considered the Government’s proposals for delivering long-term sustainable growth in participation from early years through to adulthood - with particular focus on the potential of new technologies, under-represented groups, and the future provision of sport in schools.
Sessions also examined the way forward for implementing a holistic strategy for sport across Government departments to realise the positive outcomes of increased physical activity on health, education, employability and community cohesion, as well as defining the Government’s role in supporting professional sport in order to maximise the potential for international sporting success.
