Initial Teacher Training in England - developing and implementing a core content framework, improving course quality and support for trainee teachers

July 2016

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This seminar considered the future of ITT provision in England - focusing on course content, quality and support for trainee teachers.
Preceding the publication of the recommendations of the Expert Group commissioned following the Carter Review to develop a core framework for ITT, delegates discussed the priorities for the new framework.
The seminar also came as the Teaching Schools Council, developed new standards for ITT mentors, and followed the National Audit Office’s report, Training New Teachers published in February 2016, which found that the government needs to do more to meet its recruitment targets and demonstrate how new arrangements for training new teachers are improving the quality of teaching in classrooms.
Further sessions explored what measures can be put in place to support new teachers in tackling disruptive behaviour and supporting children with special educational needs, as well as steps to encourage continued professional development (CPD).
