Delegates at this seminar analysed latest progress, and next steps, for the development of women’s sport - looking at leadership, investment, increasing participation and raising awareness.
Delegates discussed relevant proposals outlined in the Government’s Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation, including investment focused on encouraging women and girls to participate in sport, growing the number of women in leadership roles and elite coaching, and on getting girls active and developing healthy habits in physical activity from as young as five.
Discussion was also informed by the recommendations made in the final report by the Government’s Women and Sport Advisory Board with delegates having the chance to analyse the progress made by key stakeholders across the identified priority areas.
Sessions examined latest developments and best practice examples for encouraging new audiences and new participants for women’s sport - including educational programmes, proactive recruitment, media coverage, cross-sector partnerships and innovative sponsorship campaigns - and considered key policy implementation issues.
