The conference came as the Government prepares to introduce a national funding formula from 2017, and focused on the future priorities for school funding including funding allocations and budgetary constraints as well as promoting efficiency in schools.
Delegates discussed the impact so far of Government initiatives intended to make school funding fairer and more transparent - including the introduction of the Dedicated Schools Grant in 2013 and the additional allocation of £350 million for the 2015-16 funding round to help the least fairly funded areas.
They also considered steps that could be taken in order to address funding issues facing particular sectors such as coasting and rural schools, alongside assisting all schools to overcome budgetary constraints.
Further sessions focused on steps that schools can take to promote greater efficiency - with latest thinking on the effective deployment of staff, employment of School Business Managers, the potential of clusters and collaborative partnerships to support efficiency, and the effective use of available benchmarking methods.
