Ahead of the planned roll-out of smart meters in 2016, this seminar provided a timely opportunity to assess latest progress, responsibilities and priorities.
It followed the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee's 2015 report, which raised concern about aspects of the smart meter roll-out plan - with attendees at this conference including senior government officials from DECC and other relevant departments and key stakeholders involved in the roll-out and operation of smart meters, energy companies, consumer and campaign groups and other interested parties.
Delegates discussed latest issues on practicalities of installation, including workforce skills, and readiness across infrastructure to cope with the mass installation as well as consumer engagement with smart metering, energy efficiency and adapting consumer behaviours as well as the regulatory framework for installations.
